After our detour to the Valley of Fire we headed back up the highway towards Zion. The scenery along the way was incredible. The colors of the rocks and vegetation were beautiful, and the size of the mesas can’t be captured in a photo. I’ve seen quite a few movies that show people people driving in this part of the country and wanted to see it myself. It doesn’t disappoint.
We finally reached Zion late in the afternoon and spent a couple of hours sightseeing. The area itself isn’t all that large. The scenic loop going up into the canyon area is only about 10 or so miles long. We stopped quite a bit to stretch and to walk around and take a look. There were quite a few hiking trails that I’d like to come back to one day when there is more time.
