After our tour of Antelope Canyon we headed a few miles down the highway to Horseshoe Bend. It was about a 3/4 mile walk down to the viewing area and was worth it. The observation area sits about 1,100 feet above the Colorado River where it makes a big sweeping turn to the left and then to the right creating the shape of a horseshoe, hence the name
Shadows were starting to take over the area, but we arrived soon enough to get some good shots. I crawled my way out onto the edge of a rock that was hanging out over the ledge and managed to get a great view. A few other people that were close by were worried for my safety, but I wasn’t going to do anything stupid. I just wanted a better view.
