Osprey Meadows Golf Course

When I first moved to Idaho back in 2017, I looked at golf courses online to explore my options. I was happy to find quite a few courses in the area, and most were cheaper than what I’d been used to playing in the Portland area.

One of the courses that popped up in my searches was a course up in the mountains named Osprey Meadows. The course had a lot of good reviews online and the photos of the course looked like it would be fun to play. I made plans to drive up on a weekend to try and play it, but the night before I came across another online story about the course and it stated that the course closed a couple of years earlier due to financial issues for the developer of the Tamarack Resort area. Pretty disappointing, and a bit frustrating that the previous articles were written prior to the closing so I had no idea. Luckily, I did read that most recent article before making the 2 hour drive.

This past Spring it was announced that the course has been revived with some changes to the routing, and it would be open for play this summer. The front nine opened late Spring, and the full 18 opened up the first week of July.

A friend of mine and I made a tee time this past week and drove up to play the course in the afternoon. The course was a lot of fun to play, but needs to be played a few times since a lot of the tee shots were blind, or not obvious from the tees. You could tell that the course was fairly new as it needs to grow back in and mature a bit, but it was very playable.

Other than the skies being filled with smoke from nearby wildfires, the course definitely is pretty to look at. I imagine that the course will be even more beautiful in the Fall with the colors coming out.

The green fees are a higher than the local courses down here in the Treasure Valley, but it has a high-end resort feel that justifies the extra cost. I’ll definitely go back up and play it again.
